Algeria’s Leader Defies Protests to Seek Fifth Term



Mar.04 — Algeria’s president will run for re-election next month, but is pledging to cut the term short to calm public anger. Thousands of protesters took to the streets of Algiers over the weekend to demand he abandon seeking a fifth mandate. Bloomberg’s Riad Hamade reports on “Bloomberg Daybreak: Middle East.”

  1. Great Analysis , here in Algeria we demand to respect the constitution and change the regime , Bouteflika was never a puppet he is a big part of the problem with his family who rules behind him , This is why the people are saying That Algeria is a Republic not a monarchy .

The problem is not Bouteflika. it's the corrupt military regime who are ruling the country with communist cold war mentality and plundering the country's resources! if Bouteflika goes away they will just install another puppet to keep the thug generals in power. it's the military regime that needs to go away
