BMW Championship 2019 tee times: Round 1 starts for Tiger Woods, field; TV coverage, live stream

After an eventful four days at the Northern Trust to kick off the three-tournament FedEx Cup Playoffs, the BMW Championship hopes to follow the opening act with even more entertainment.

Played at Medinah Country Club in the suburbs of Chicago, it has been a FedEx Cup event since its inception in 2007. The top 70 golfers in the FedEx Cup standings are eligible to participate in the no-cut event.

Patrick Reed thrust himself up to No. 2 in the FedEx Cup points standings with a one-stroke victory over Abraham Ancer at last week’s Northern Trust. He joins Brooks Koepka, Rory McIlroy, Matt Kuchar and Jon Rahm in the top five in the standings. Like the Northern Trust, the winner of this week’s BMW Championship will earn 2,000 FedEx Cup points, which could be pivotal for those looking to qualify for the Tour Championship, the year’s final PGA tournament open to the top 30 golfers in the standings.

The status of Tiger Woods will be one of the biggest questions leading up to the tournament, as he pulled out of the Northern Trust with a strained oblique. If he is forced to withdraw from the BMW Championship, he won’t qualify for the Tour Championship, which he won last year. Woods enters the week in 38th place with 1,003 points – the lowest of the four major winners in 2019.

Keegan Bradley is the defending champion, but barely qualified this year, so it really is anyone’s tournament to win.

Here is all of the information for how to watch the BMW Championship, including an updated list of tee times, the complete TV schedule and more.

Who else is in the BMW Championship field?

All of the 70 eligible golfers are in the BMW Championship field, although Woods’ status is still a little up in the air after suffering a strained oblique at the Northern Trust. Abraham Ancer (No. 8) and Brandt Snedeker (No. 22) are among those who made a big jump up the standings after a productive weekend. Paul Casey (No. 13) notably sat out of the Northern Trust in order to rest, but he will be back in action at Medinah.

Louis Oosthuizen (No. 28), Hideki Matsuyama (No. 33) and Francesco Molinari (No. 34) are among the bigger names who sit on the cusp of qualifying for the Tour Championship.
