He’s married to a dentist, so he pretended to be one too, prosecutors say
An X-ray technician married to a dentist has been accused of illegally performing dental work on patients at her New Jersey practice, authorities said.
Both South Hackensack residents are now charged with a series of healthcare fraud claims offenses, the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement.
Dr. Amy Rojas, 37 and her husband, Oscar Guevara, 41, allegedly submitted false bills to insurance carriers for procedures performed by Guevara, officials said.
Guevara also put braces on a 16-year-old girl, who then had to have the orthodontic work fixed by a legitimate dentist, the prosecutor’s office said. Guevara is charged with conspiracy to commit health care fraud and practicing dentistry without a license.
His wife was charged with health care claims fraud and conspiracy to commit health care claims fraud.
Rojas runs Allure Dental, which has offices in Passaic and Teaneck.
The enforcement bureau of the state Division of Consumer Affairs assisted in the investigation.
