Man fired flares into windows of 2 South Jersey homes
A man was arrested for allegedly firing flares at the windows of two homes Monday in Middle Township, police said. One flare broke a window and started a fire in the living room of one home.
Police responded to a home on West Anna Street in the Whitesboro section of the township and another on Goshen Road in the Cape May Court House section of the township at 6 a.m. after they were reportedly shot with flares, according to a news release from the Middle Township Police.
One of the flares crashed through a window of the Goshen Road home, set a carpet on fire and filled the living room with smoke, police said. Burn marks were also found on the outside of the house.
The front of the Whitesboro home was damaged and one of its windows was broken.
James Dehainaut, 19, of Middle Township, was arrested and charged with aggravated arson, employing a juvenile in a crime, aggravated assault and various weapons offenses, according to the release.
