Manchester United’s victory over Newcastle produced one amazing statistic
The Red Devils’ comeback from 2-0 down could kick-start their season under Jose Mourinho
Manchester United needed to pull something special out of the bag to beat Newcastle on Saturday.
In the end, Paul Pogba, playing at centre-back, was one of the stars to save Jose Mourinho’s neck with the Red Devils coming back from 2-0 down to win 3-2.
With Mourinho said to be on the brink of being sacked, Kenedy and Yoshinori Muto had got the Magpies ahead but Juan Mata, Anthony Martial, and a late strike from Alexis Sanchez turned the scoreline on its head.
It’s not often the Red Devils are 2-0 down at Old Trafford, such is their dominance of English football across history.
But the result was the first time in 60 years Manchester United have come from two goals down to win a league match.
Mourinho will now be hoping it’s the last time his side go 2-0 down at Old Trafford.
