Redskins vs. Saints: Score, live updates, highlights from Monday Night Football | NFL

History is on the horizon in ‘Monday Night Football’ between the Redskins and Saints.

Drew Brees needs just 201 passing yards to surpass Peyton Manning as the NFL’s all-time leader. Considering Brees has thrown for at least 200 yards in 92 percent of his home games as a Saint, it seems likely that tonight will be the record-setting night.

Both squads enter this game in first place, but the Saints (3-1) will need a victory to stay there after the Panthers won on Sunday.

Washington (2-1) is without wide receiver Josh Doctson. Michael Floyd will be activated in his place.

The Redskins defense has allowed the fewest amount of points (14.1) of any team in the league, but they will have their hands full with a Saints offense that is third in the NFL in scoring with 34.3 points per game.

Sporting News will provide live updates and highlights from Monday Night Football.

Redskins vs. Saints: Score, live updates, highlights

Redskins: 3

Saints: 6

9:01 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN, SAINTS. Brees finds Josh Hill in the back of the end zone. He is now second on the all-time passing yards list and is just 101 yards behind Manning. Saints 13, Redskins 3.

8:54 p.m.: A sack of Brees appeared to force a fourth down but an unnecessary roughness penalty on the Redskins leads to a first down and keeps the drive moving. Could be a big shift in this game.

End of first quarter: Saints 6, Redskins 3

8:49 p.m.: After 15 minutes of play, Brees has 55 yards passing, putting him 146 yards away from the record.

8:42 p.m.: FIELD GOAL, REDSKINS. Washington gets to within the Saints 7-yard line but a third down sack by Sheldon Rankins forces them to settle for a 37-yard field goal from Dustin Hopkins. The 15-play drive took over eight minutes off the clock. Saints 6, Redskins 3.

8:24 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN, SAINTS. On the next play, Ingram runs it in and has a touchdown on his first drive of the 2018 season. The extra point from Wil Lutz is no good, however. Saints 6, Redskins 0.

8:24 p.m.: Ingram gets a screen pass that takes the Saints to the 1-yard line. He is already complementing Kamara well.

8:18 p.m.: Adrian Peterson is gimpy after getting hit near the knees on just the second play of the game. He returns to play on the next drive.

8:02 p.m.: Running back Mark Ingram returns tonight for the Saints after serving a 4-game suspension for testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs.

7:57 p.m.: The inactives for both teams:
