Wake held for Ferris High School junior gunned down in Jersey City
Family and friends paid their respects today to Jayden Fondeur, 17, the high school student who was shot and killed near his home in Jersey City on Sept. 19.
The wake was held tonight at Michalski Funeral Home, located at 463 Monmouth St. in Jersey City.
Fondeur, a junior at Ferris High School, was shot and killed at the corner of Old Bergen Road and Pamrapo Avenue in Jersey City at 6:25 p.m. The family called it a drive-by shooting, but they believe Jayden was not the intended target.
No arrests have been made so far.
Students at the wake wore T-shirts with Fondeur’s photo on them, some saying “Long Live Jayden,” and “Rest in Peace.”
Fondeur’s funeral is set for Tuesday at St. Anthony’s Church, next to the funeral home, at 10:30 a.m. Jayden will be interred at Holy Name Cemetery.
A GoFundMe page has been created to help Jayden’s family with funeral costs.
