Zion Williamson injury update: Duke star out vs. North Carolina | NCAA Basketball
Zion Williamson isn’t ready to make his return just yet.
The Duke freshman sensation has been ruled out of his team’s ACC rivalry matchup against North Carolina on Saturday, the team announced. Williamson has been dealing with a sprained knee, which he initially suffered within the first 40 seconds of the Blue Devils’ first matchup against the Tar Heels on Feb. 20.

Duke has gone 3-2 in his absence, but coach Mike Krzyzewski has insisted he doesn’t want to rush Williamson’s return.
“I have to be careful not to push this,” Krzyzewski said earlier this week, via The Athletic. “I’d be surprised if he’s not ready by the ACC Tournament.”
Krzyzewski also expressed optimism that Williamson will be back on the court at some point this season as he will now be involved in basketball workouts.
Projected by many to be a top pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, Williamson has been averaging 21.6 points and 8.8 rebounds while shooting 68.3 percent from the field in 2018-19.
Saturday’s matchup against North Carolina will tip off at 6 p.m. ET.
